Questions

Q. Can you tell me about your design background and experience?

A. We both have been working on our own brands separately since grade school. Ray and I both had similar upbringings as athletes that inspired to be designers and starting our own brands. Our relationship grew after meeting Ray in his store at the Town Square Mall here in Las Vegas, During my time back home from USC I would visit Ray and we would talk about our ideas and visions together and keep in touch working with each other.

Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in design?

A. I have always had a passion for fashion and creativity. Growing up, I was always drawn to art and design, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue a career in the fashion industry. The ability to express myself through clothing and create unique designs inspired me to become a fashion designer, Both Ray and Wade tells us.

Q. How do you stay updated on the latest design trends and technologies?

A. To stay updated on the latest design trends and technologies, we regularly attend fashion trade fairs, and exhibitions. We also follow fashion blogs, magazines, and social media accounts of influential designers and brands. Additionally, we participate in workshops and online courses to learn about new techniques and technologies in fashion design. We study design and fashion technologies religiously. We are always learning something new everyday. I love our diversity in taste for design the most Says Ray, being subversive to traditional courses of taste allows us to be well rounded and knowledgeable for all kinds of clients.

Q. Can you walk me through your design process from start to finish?

A. Our design process typically starts with research and inspiration gathering. We look for trends, themes, and ideas that resonate with the collection we are working on. Once we have a clear concept in mind, we sketch out our ideas and create mood boards to visualize the overall aesthetic. From there, we create technical drawings and patterns, select fabrics, and start the sample-making process. We then refine and iterate on the designs based on feedback and fittings until the final collection is ready for production.

Q. How do you approach working with clients and understanding their design needs?

A. When working with clients, we approach the process by first understanding their brand identity and target audience. We conduct thorough research on their brand, competitors, and market trends to ensure that our designs align with their vision. We also have detailed discussions with clients to understand their specific design needs, preferences, and any constraints they may have. Regular communication and feedback loops are essential to ensure that the final designs meet their expectations.

Q. Can you provide examples of your previous design projects and explain the challenges you faced and how you overcame them?

A. Absolutely, One example of a previous design project was creating a collection for a storied iconic brand. The challenge was to incorporate their brand's classic aesthetic while infusing a modern twist. To overcome this challenge, we conducted extensive research on their brand history and analyzed their previous collections. We then created designs that incorporated traditional elements with contemporary silhouettes and fabric choices. Regular communication and feedback with the client helped us refine the designs and achieve their desired outcome.

Q. How do you handle feedback and criticism on your designs?

A. Feedback and criticism are crucial for growth as a designer in our opinion. We approach feedback with an open mind and view it as an opportunity to improve ideas, and designs. We actively listen to the feedback, ask clarifying questions, and take notes to ensure that we understand the specific areas that need improvement. We then use this feedback to iterate on our designs and present revised versions to the client. Constructive criticism helps us refine our skills and deliver better designs.

Q. What software and tools do you use for your design work?

A. For my design work, we primarily use software such as Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop for creating digital sketches and illustrations. We also use pattern-making software like Gerber Accumark for creating technical drawings and patterns. Additionally, we use tools like mood board creation platforms and fashion design software to streamline our design process.

Q. Can you describe a time when you had to work under tight deadlines and how you managed to deliver quality work?

A. There was a time when we had to work under tight deadlines for a presentation. To manage this, we created a detailed schedule and broke down the tasks into smaller, manageable chunks. We prioritized the most critical tasks and allocated specific time slots for each task. We also communicated with the production team and suppliers to ensure that everything was on track. By staying organized, managing our time effectively, and working efficiently, we were able to deliver high-quality work within the given deadline.

Q. How do you prioritize and manage multiple design projects simultaneously?

A. To prioritize and manage multiple design projects simultaneously, we use project management tools and techniques. We create a project timeline, set clear deadlines for each project, and allocate specific time slots for each task. We also regularly communicate with clients to manage their expectations and provide progress updates. By staying organized, prioritizing tasks, and effectively managing our time, I ensure that all projects are completed on time and to the best of our ability.

Q. Can you share any experience you have with collaborating with other designers or teams?

A. We have experience collaborating with other designers and teams on various projects. In these collaborations, effective communication and teamwork are key. We actively participate in brainstorming sessions, share ideas, and contribute to the overall design process. We also ensure that we are open to feedback and suggestions from other team members, as collaboration often leads to innovative and unique design solutions.

Q. How do you ensure your designs are user-friendly and accessible to a wide range of users?

A. To ensure our designs are user-friendly and accessible to a wide range of users, we consider factors such as comfort, functionality, and inclusivity. We conduct user research to understand the needs and preferences of the target audience. We also consider factors like body diversity, mobility, and cultural sensitivities when designing garments. By incorporating these considerations into our designs, we aim to create fashion that is inclusive and caters to a diverse range of users.

Q. Can you discuss any experience you have with designing for different platforms or mediums (e.g., web, mobile, print)?

A. We have experience designing for different platforms and mediums, including web, mobile, and print. For web and mobile design, we focus on creating intuitive user interfaces and ensuring a seamless user experience. We consider factors like responsive design, accessibility, and visual hierarchy. For print design, we pay attention to details like color accuracy, print quality, and layout composition. Adapting our design skills to different platforms and mediums allows us to create cohesive and impactful designs across various channels.

Q. How do you approach problem-solving when faced with design challenges?

A. When faced with design challenges, we approach problem-solving by first analyzing the problem and understanding its root cause. We then brainstorm potential solutions and evaluate their feasibility and impact. We often seek input from colleagues or mentors to gain different perspectives and insights. By breaking down the problem into smaller, manageable parts and considering multiple solutions, we can find the most effective and creative design solutions.

Q.  What are your long-term goals and aspirations as a designer?

A. Our long-term goals and aspirations as founders include establishing our own fashion labels and showcasing our collections at international fashion weeks. We also aim to collaborate with other designers and brands to create innovative and sustainable fashion. Additionally, we want to contribute to the fashion industry by promoting ethical and inclusive practices and inspiring the next generation of designers. Our goal was to be examples for future generations in our communities.
